YouTube Vlog Equipment.
I am asked a lot what kind of camera or accessories I use to film our channel. I have also included details of the art materials I use.
I have listed equipment that we use below and hope you find it useful. I edit all our video’s in Final Cut Pro, but I have heard great things about DaVinci Resolve, a free editing software.
The Camera Equipment and accessories I use to shoot our Vlogs
I do use an i phone (Xs) for shooting everyday film and the images are very good, the problem comes when recording sound, especially if its windy and that’s why I invested in a compact DSLR camera with interchangeable lenses and the option to mount an external microphone.
Canon EOS M50 15-45/3.5-6.3 EF-M IS STM Such a brilliant camera for Vlogging. It’s compact, lightweight and has superb autofocus. A flip out screen and external microphone socket. This is the camera of choice for many YouTube Vloggers.
Sigma 16 mm f/1.4 (C) AF DC DN Lens for Canon EF-M X Mount, Mirrorless Sigma 1.4 lens At last a fast lens to capture images and video in low light, the Bokeh from this lens is beautiful. I’m so glad I bought this lens to go with the Canon M50
DJI Mavic Air Camera Drone (EU version with EU PSU) For those amazing areal shots and that extra impact that only a drone can capture, this is a great bit of kit. I highly recommend taking out the care package for the first year.

RØDE VideoMic GO On Camera Microphone – Black/Red This is a great microphone and very reasonably priced. Mounted directly onto your camera shoe mount.
Rode NT-USB Microphone For voice overs this is far superior to the built in microphone on a mac or PC, the Rode NT-USB gives rich pure sound to your voice overs, to add that quality sound to your YouTube videos.
Art Equipment
Faber-Castell Pitt Pastel Pencils (24 Pastels Pencils) These are my go to pencils when it comes to drawing, they are great for adding layers and used with the right paper can give amazing results. If your just staring out I would try this set first them buy the bigger set if you enjoy using them.
Clairefontaine PastelMat Pastel Card Pad No2, 360 g, 24 x 30 cm, 12 Sheets – Assorted Colours This paper has a texture like cork and can take many layers of pastel, due to the tooth of the paper. This took my drawing to another level.
Prismacolor Premier Colored Pencil Set 24/Tin These pencils produce amazing colour and can be added layer after layer for some amazing details.
Strathmore Toned Gray Sketch Pad 11-inch x 14-inch, 24 Sheets Beautiful paper for coloured pencil work and the grey mid-tone really helps produce great work. This paper helped elevate my art to a much higher standard.
